Power Tee Comes to the American Lake Driving Range

Driving range with PowerTee bays

American Lake has installed Power Tee in all ten bays of its covered driving range. The system tees up a ball automatically at a set height and resets itself between shots, so a golfer never has to bend down to the mat.

That matters more here than at most courses. American Lake is built around golfers who cannot easily reach the ground: veterans in mobility impaired carts, veterans using prosthetics, and older players for whom bending to tee a ball a hundred times is the part of practice that ends the session early.

"We have many disabled and older veterans who play here. It is extremely difficult for a disabled golfer in a mobility impaired cart to tee up a ball at the driving range. It is equally difficult for the older veterans to tee up balls. Power Tee will make this much easier and more enjoyable for these golfers."

Bruce McKenty, General Manager

Power Tee worked with the course to keep the installation affordable. American Lake is believed to be the first course in the Northwest United States to have the system.

"Power Tee enables adaptive golfers and those with disabilities to improve and enjoy the game of golf. It gives us great satisfaction to know we are helping others achieve their goal and we are very proud to be part of the journey."

Ross Jones, Director, Power Tee

Power Tee is an automatic practice system created by Martin Wyeth. It operates in 18 countries and is used at courses including St Andrews, the Belfry and Le Golf National. It tees up more than six million balls a day.

American Lake is built and run by volunteers. Come play it, or help keep it going.
