Fundraising Plan

Our fundraising draws from a diverse group of individual donors. On an annual basis, individuals give more money to charity than foundations and corporations combined and are not as susceptible to business downturns or a change in giving guidelines.

We identify and inform our potential donors through brochures and presentations at organizations such as Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rotary, Eagles, Elks, and men and women's golf clubs at many golf courses. We make personal contact with various local businesses such as those in the automobile industry, gaming industry, construction, medical, and real estate to name just a few.

We also sponsor golf clinics and exhibitions, golf tournaments and other special events that not only inform potential donors, but also involve them in our activities. We have a "Friends Members List" that recognizes those who have contributed $100 or more to the Friends of American Lake Veterans Golf Course. It's an accumulating amount and may be added to at any time. This enables us to recognize all of our contributors and assists us in upgrading individual pledges each year.

John Shalikashvili, General,
U.S. Army (Ret), CJCS 1993-97
Honorary Co-chair, Friends of
American Lake Veterans Golf Course

“I am only one of the thousands of veterans benefiting from golf at American Lake.
Unlike many veterans, I was lucky not to lose legs or arms in combat. But when a stroke left me partially paralyzed, the golf program at American Lake helped my recovery.
Our new Rehabilitation and Learning Center, along with nine more holes, will give every disabled veteran the chance they deserve.

Please join me in supporting our warriors with a generous donation to our capital campaign.”
