• What is the Friends of American Lake Veterans Golf Course '56 Chevy Raffle?

The Raffle is a 501(c)3 fundraiser sponsored by the nonprofit charitable organization Friends of American Lake Veterans Golf Course to promote the rehabilitation of our disabled veterans through the healing power of golf, in an atmosphere of camaraderie that aids in the healing transition of their physical, mental and emotional challenges.

 

• What percentage of revenue from the Raffle is actually used for the golf course?

100% after direct expenses.

 

• Joe's rich uncle has many credit cards. Can any of them be used to purchase tickets? Only MasterCard and VISA may be used to purchase tickets.

 

• Is Joe's Raffle ticket purchase tax-deductible?

All federal, state and local income, sales and/or excise taxes, fees, assessments and like charges associated with the prize, are the responsibility of the holder of the winning ticket. The IRS has taken the position that amounts donated for chances to participate in raffles, lotteries or similar programs are not gifts and, therefore, the price of the entry does not qualify as a deductible charitable contribution. Winner must complete a W-9 form before receiving prize. For further information, consult your qualified financial advisor.

 

• Can Joe's company or business buy tickets?

Yes

 

• Can Joe buy his Raffle ticket online?

No

 

• If Joe wins the car, does he have to pay taxes on it?

Yes, the winner is responsible for licensing, fees and all applicable taxes.

 

• If Joe wins the car and decides to take the money instead, does he have to pay taxes?

• This Raffle seems like gambling. Is it legal?

Yes, FALVGC has a state license to hold the raffle.

 

• When is the deadline for buying a ticket?

April 15, 2012

 

• When is the drawing for the car? Where will it be? Can Joe attend?

April 16, 2012 at 5:00 PM at the American Lake Veterans Golf Course. Yes, anyone can attend.
